| A.E.
in Mojacar 2002 |
|
In
June, 2002, I was a guest at the Fundacion Valparaiso (an artist's colony)
in Mojacar, Spain for a month. My 17 lb. box of supplies sent a month
before my arrival never materialized. So, I was forced to scavenge usable
supplies with which to work (like paprika and saffron for red-yellow hues)
or depend on the generosity of strangers. It turned out to be really fortuitous,
and very revealing, as it forced me to reign in my excesses (of materials)
and focus much more clearly on pure art making. People there started saving
their wrappers and such for me to use, and by the end of our tenure there,
my studio was, by far, the most congested (and messy). It was a truly
productive and fun time! |
